• Patrice teaches drama and articulation to kids and adults. She teaches all the children at Primary Prep Elementary and Middle School (K – 8th grade) to communicate effectively, and vocally fill a room without a microphone. It is a delight for her to help children master their challenges, such as the lisp or their “th” sounds.

  • Patrice assists the Jersey City Mayor’s office in preparing high-school children, especially those who are college bound, to effectively communicate, one on one, in a program called JC Arts Summer.
  • She coaches individually and in a group session. She uses her extensive knowledge and experience as an actor and director of both the stage and screen to help both children and adults to be aware of their individual communication challenges, (whether physical, vocal, facial), and be able to master them in order to communicate effectively. Nerves manifest in a myriad of ways being evident in body language, facial expressions, vocal tones, twitches, fast pace, slow tempo, lack of eye contact, stuttering, mumbling, unarticulated consonants or vowels, unconscious physical rocking, rolling of the eyes in an attempt to recall, in fact, a look of terror. It is a debilitating and horrible feeling. Patrice guides both children and adults to understand that although fear comes to the public speaker, they can learn tools to focus this energy, celebrate their individual strengths, to become master communicators.

WHY I AM ABLE TO HELP

  • I was born in the Caribbean and came to America with a different accent. I am aware that sometimes when your accent stands out, it can cause an individual to be shy, not wanting to sound ‘different”
  • I have extensive articulation training and a great ‘ear’. I teach children and people from all over the world and am able to gently assist them in vowel and consonant clarity and tongue placement so they make substitutions for a clear articulated sound.
  • I began studying engineering before I studied acting. I understand leading with logic and restraint as well as leading with drama. I find that no matter what you do, you have an interesting, unique story to share. If you are able to access your heart and your mind in order to share your ‘story’, we will get lost in the thoughts you share. If you are not able to do that, we get lost in our own…and you have lost your audience. I am able to help you find and tell your story – effectively.
